DAW’s Airsoft Safety Rules
~ or ~
How to shoot your friends safely!
While we at DAW really like shooting our friends (it’s how we started the company!), it is very important to note that we do it in a safe manner. This means that when we are playing in a ‘real’ game with a lot of other people, or just ambushing a friend as he comes home with his new girlfriend (we’ll tell you that story another time), we always make sure we always do it SAFELY.
Having fun is no excuse for being stupid and shooting your friend in the face, or peppering his naked skin until he has more dimples than a golf ball. Yes, you may laugh, but their reaction and retribution may stop you laughing, and fast.
So, to restate, DON’T BE STUPID! Just so you are clear on what is stupid and what isn’t, we have compiled a little list for you to review:
1. Airsoft guns should ALWAYS be treated like a real firearm. While it won’t kill you, but it will break out teeth or even blind you. And like mom always said “It’s always fun until someone looses an EYE!!”
2. Speaking of eyes, COVER THEM! Eye protection is standard equipment, so wear it.
3. Don’t EVER shoot at someone’s face or head! There is important stuff up there and you would feel really bad (and would be legally liable) for any damage you inflict on someone else.
4. Never shoot someone that is not part of the game or has not given you specific permission to do so. Why? I will leave it up to his/her lawyer to explain it to you.
5. DAW is NOT responsible for YOUR actions, such as brandishing an airsoft gun during the commission of a crime, etc. Why? We’ll let OUR lawyer explain it to you!
6. Make sure you (and your victim) have appropriate clothing on. Shooting at naked skin will leave very nasty looking and painful welts on your body (making it hard to explain to your mother what the HELL you’ve been doing!)
7. Don’t shoot someone closer than 20 FEET (I know, I know. But TRY!) Why you ask? Because it hurts, A LOT MORE!
8. Always transport your Airsoft gun in a case. You may again ask why, however we will leave it up to the law enforcement officer that pulls you over and points a shotgun at you to explain it to you.
9. This is FUN. You need to always remember that, and if you are NOT having fun then it is time to stop. You being a grumpy butt-head will only bring everyone around you down (and possibly cause you to be the victim of a ‘karmic ambush’. My friends would.)
10. Don’t escalate the conflict! This means that, should someone get you really good, be a good sport and take it. Getting in someone’s face will only result in additional legal and possibly medical fees. It’s called ‘Sportsmanship,’ Google it.
We here at DAW hope that you and your friends have fun, enjoy the sport of Airsoft however you choose to play it. Always remember, our primary and overriding hope is that you do it safely, every time.
